Private Lessons & Studio Teaching with
Dr. Jasmine “Jazzie” Pigott

Whether you’re picking up a brass instrument for the first time, preparing for college auditions, composing your first piece, or strengthening your theory skills, my studio is a space where you can grow, explore, and thrive.

As an internationally recognized tuba soloist, composer, and educator with a D.M.A. in Tuba Performance, I bring over a decade of experience teaching students of all ages and stages—from beginners, pre-professionals, adults learning for the first time or lifelong players. I offer private lessons in tuba, euphonium, trombone, bass trombone, composition, and music theory, tailoring every session to meet the needs, interests, and goals of each student.

I currently teach through the Peabody Preparatory and maintain a private studio in Baltimore. Lessons are available both in person and online.

My Teaching Philosophy

My teaching is grounded in the belief that every student deserves the tools, confidence, and encouragement to be the best version of themselves—both musically and personally. I focus on:

  • Fostering independence: Students learn effective practice strategies so they can confidently guide their own development outside of lessons.

  • Supporting the whole person: Through growth mindset principles and holistic lifestyle support, I help students develop not just as musicians, but as healthy, resilient individuals.

  • Culturally responsive pedagogy: I meet each student where they are—culturally, musically, and personally—using approaches that affirm identity and spark engagement.

  • Tailoring instruction: Every student’s journey is unique. I customize each lesson to align with their interests, goals, and learning style for sustained motivation and growth.

  • Creating a safe space to perform: I help students build the confidence to perform in front of others by establishing trust, clarity, and nonjudgmental support.

  • Specialized strategies for neurodiverse learners: I particularly understand how to support students with ADHD through thoughtful scheduling, creative structuring, and consistent encouragement.

  • Emphasizing fundamentals: Strong technique and musical basics are taught as the foundation for ease, artistry, and long-term success.
