I write music that centers the story first—its purpose, its voice, and its truth. Rooted in contemporary classical writing, my work is shaped by the musical languages and experiences that have formed me over time. Whether it’s a solo work, chamber piece, or wind ensemble commission, I compose to give performers a narrative world they can step into and make their own to inspire an audience.

Roots Torn, Routes Chosen: A Story of Black Migration — Wind Ensemble & Spoken Word

This piece traces the history of Black American migration through sound and narrative. It moves from ancestral Africa to the Middle Passage, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, Caribbean migration, and present day. It is a journey of survival, movement, and identity—written to give ensembles a chance to explore history through collective storytelling.

The Imposters reimagines imposter syndrome as a character study. Each movement reveals a different way doubt shows up in our lives, pushing the performer to overextend, contract, compensate, or mask. It’s both a technical and emotional challenge, and a chance to own the parts of ourselves that feel “not enough.”

Against All Odds — Brass Ensemble

Written for the Chromatic Brass Collective, Against All Odds honors the courage of marginalized musicians who build excellence in spaces that were never designed for them. It celebrates resilience, power, and the joy of proving the world wrong.
